Finding the best graphic design laptop can be a difficult task if you are not sure what to look for, but don’t worry you have come to the right place, let me walk you through what to look for.
Graphic design rely on softwares(Photoshop, Maya, Sketch, and InDesign to name a few)that requires a lot of power, and most people think they need a desktop to match that power.
Recently though, there is a lot of powerful graphic cards and processors became available for mobile devices, and it becoming more and more easier to find a laptop powerful enough to run those graphic design software.
The best graphic design laptop not only has to be powerful enough, it also has to be lightweight, and easy to carry (some prefer bigger screens too).
And those rare laptops that has that combination is what we are looking for.
What makes the best laptop for graphic design?
How much ram you need depends on what work you are planning to do with it ?
If you are just an amateur that is doing this just as a hobby you don’t need anything too powerful, 4 GB ram or more should be sufficient, but if you are serious about graphic design and really looking for the best laptop then you should go for 8 GB ram or even higher if you have the budget for it.
We are not just looking for the amount of ram, we are also considering the type of ram (like DDR3 SDRAM).
to put it simply the higher the number the better it is
Since we are going to use it fore photo and video rendering we need a very good graphic card, but if you have to choose between stronger graphic card or more ram, go with more ram (unless you are already have 16 ram or over)’
Recently the GTX 1070 and 1080 has been announced and soon to be released, but we don’t need that strong, as those are geared more towards gamers and have a higher price range, anything over the Nvidia GeForce GTX 860 will be more than enough for now and couple of years ahead
The is actually an easy choice, we are looking for i5 or i7 with quad-core, Those are currently the best and should also be sufficient for the next couple of years
They both also have hyper-threading technology which will help you with multi tasking (for example doing some Photoshop while you uploading files to the cloud)
Screen size :
Since we are doing mainly graphic design you will need to look at big screens, think 15.6 or 17.3, it will be a little bulky, but you will not regret it when you can easily create stunning graphics down to the pixel level
One of the main reasons you are looking for a laptop instead of a desktop is its portability, so we need to look for lightweight, durable design because we need the laptop on hand for that moment where a creative bulb lights up in your head.
Since you will most likely be on the move a lot you need to make sure that your laptop will not die out on you in the middle of a meeting or a presentation
Screen quality :
Having a big screen is not enough, you need to make sure your pixel density is high and the technology that it uses is superior(pro tip, look for IPS screens).
Now you know what to look for, on with the list of best graphic design laptop

It has 16 Gb 1600 MHz which will more than enough for heavy work, even for 3D graphic design
It is equipped with 512 GB PCIe- based flash drive(which is extremely fast), which will support fast files transfer and will save a lot of time.
It has the AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB GDDR5 memory, Again more than enough to be a very good laptop for graphic design.
The battery life is great on the Mac, it should last a good solid 9 hours on one charge, so you will not have to be near a plug all day.
