Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop 2018 (our choice for best gaming laptops under 1000)

Configuration & Performance

The chosen model comes with an Intel Core i7 processor up to a speed of 4.1GHz , 16 GBs RAM, and 256 GBs of SSD storage. The laptop has an overall good performance and scores high at multitasking. Its performance exceeds other laptops with the same processor speed. It gets overheated and CPU throttles, but its cooling system allows the CPU to run for longer periods.

Design

The laptop design has an angular overall look or form with an aggressive gaming logo. It is all black with some dark red lines. It somehow resembles the Acer Nitro 5 in the looks but with more aggressive gaming vibe.

Display

The Acer Helios provides the perfect combination of display resolution of 1080p which suits its screen 15.6 inch size. Games run smoothly as it has a 144 Hz refresh rate but the screen misses the G-sync. Moreover, it has an IPS panel for better angle viewing and color reproduction.

Keyboard & Touchpad

The Acer Helios has a full keyboard with comfortable and responsive keys. Also, the arrow buttons (WASD) and trackpad are outlined with a red color. It has a backlit red color for typing in the dark but it does not offer color brightness control;. The trackpad is responsive enough to be used but it has a relatively small size so you might need an external mouse for better control.

Bottom Line

After recommending you 3 different options for best gaming laptops under 1000 $ with a variety of features and price ranges, the best on this list would be the Acer Predator, however it is a bit pricey. You might consider it if you do not have a budget constraint. The other mentioned options are good ones if you want to have a gaming laptop but within a more limited budget, but of course there will always be to trade-off, so choose wisely what you don’t really need. The deal breaker for any gamer would always be the graphics and the throttling factors as it affects your overall gaming experience.
